Education

Cyndi  received her Juris Doctor, With High Distinction, in 2004 from the University of Nebraska College of Law

Her honors inlcuded: Order of the Coif, Regents Scholarship recipient, awards in Contracts, Juvenile Law, Construction Law, and Advanced Trial Advocacy.  She was an Executive Editor, Nebraska Law Review, a member of the College of Law National Moot Court Team and President of the Student Chapter NATA/ATLA

Before attending the Law College, Cyndi obtained her Bachelor of Arts, With High Distinction, majoring in Communication Studies and minoring in Political Science and Ethnic Studies at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln

Continuing her legal education remains a strong focus for Cyndi.  In addition to continuing education courses, in July 2009 Cyndi attended and graduated from the intense, informative, and invigorating IADC Trial Academy, Stanford University, Palo Alto, California

Cyndi launched out on her own after serving clients as a litigation attorney with the well respected Nebraska firm of Baylor, Evnen, Curtiss, Grimit & Witt, LLP in Lincoln, Nebraska.

She believes that experience comes in many forms and from many sources.  In addition to serving clients in litigation matters, Cyndi has been a legal writing adjunct at the University of Nebraska College of Law since 2006, and served as a judicial clerk to the honorable Kenneth C. Stephan, justice of the Nebraska Supreme Court.  She strives to remain active in her community, serving her church and the community.

As an attorney:

Cyndi has prepared and tried cases and/or aided in preparation of cases from conception, Complaint or Answer through settlement or verdict in a number of practice areas including: insurance defense, product liability, toxic tort litigation, personal injury for both plaintiff’s and defendants, employment issues, criminal defense, juvenile court matters, family law, and workers compensation.

She has researched and prepared educational materials and articles concerning litigation procedures and threshold issues, product liability,  employment and insurance law.  She previously served on her firm’s Ethics Committee.

As an educator:

Cyndi currently teaches as an adjunct in Legal Research & Writing, at the University of Nebraska, College of Law in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In her position, she instructs a 6 credit hour first year Legal Research and Writing small group, teaching  approximately 15 students in writing legal memoranda, brief writing, and appellate oral argument.  In 2009, Cyndi was also a Summer Legal Writing Instructor for approximate 20 students in Pre-Law Institute, an intensive 4-week law school experience for minority students considering law school and/or legal career.

As a judicial clerk:

From 2004-2006 Cyndi served as an Attorney/Judicial Law Clerk for the  Hon. Kenneth C. Stephan,  Nebraska Supreme Court

In her position, Cyndi researched and wrote legal memos; reviewed, discussed, and verified legal documents related to edited opinions; prepared reports on motions, and attended oral arguments.
